Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has alleged that the PDA government had used all the government machinery and resources at its disposal to win the recently concluded Lok Sabha by-election, which was “imposed” on the people of Nagaland with barely a year to go for next Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
In a press release, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee president, K Therie, appealed to the people of Nagaland not to lose sight of their principles and beliefs and remain steadfast in their commitment to protect their rights and freedom as guaranteed by the constitution.
With the success of Congress and united opposition parties in the recently concluded by elections across the country, Therie said the downfall of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun “with the mood of the nation already yearning for change.”
NPCC president said that Congress and other secular minded parties in Nagaland would continue to fight and defeat the “evils of communalism manifested in the form of BJP and supported by NDPP.”
Meanwhile, the NPCC has congratulated PDA candidate Tokheho Yepthomi on being elected as Lok Sabha member. Congress also expressed gratitude to the people of Nagaland who voted for NPF candidate C Apok Jamir, adding that the fight to protect the principles of secularism and liberal democracy had resonated throughout the state.
