HIV& AIDS advocacy programme conducted

A one day HIV/AIDS advocacy programme, with church leaders, was held on May 25, at Ongpangkong Salang, Mokokchung, organised by Care and Support Society (CSS), Mokokchung in collaboration with Pastor’s Fellowship Mokokchung Town and supported by Legislators’ Forum AIDS (LFA), Nagaland.
A press release from LFA-Nagaland, state consultant, Dr. Vinito L. Chishi said that the introduction of the programme was presented by CSS managing director, Imchawati Kichu. Resource persons of the programme were state consultant Dr. Vinito L. Chishi and Hukatoli from legislators’ forum on AIDS.
The programme highlighted three sessions; “HIV Scenario and response of the Church” which was presided over by Dr. Vinito L. Chishi, “Risk and Vulnerability” by Hukatoli and an interactive session. 
During the presentation, Dr. Vinito called upon church leaders to address the issue of HIV/AIDS in their own local churchs and discussed developing strategies for ministering to people living with HIV/AIDS. He was of the view that the church must be ready to help those who are infected with, and affected by HIV/AIDS. 
He also said that the Church could care and comfort the sick and counsel them as it was the most trusted organisation in the community.
Later, a vote of thanks was delivered Mokokchung Town Pastor’s Fellowship chairman, W. Subong.
