CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung was launched on Friday, at Ongpangkong Salang by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal. CHILDLINE 1098 is a national 24 hours free, phone emergency outreach service for children in need of care and protection. CHILDLINE Mokokchung which is being implemented in Mokokchung through the initiatives of the Care & Support Society (C&SS) Mokokchung is a project of the Union Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India.
According to DIPR, delivering a short speech, the DC said that many children were being abused mentally, physically or emotionally and this were often unnoticed. He said many families send their domestic helpers to school just to prove to society that they are taken care of but in many cases these children are being forced to work beyond their strength and without proper food and rest which directly falls under Child Labour. Therefore, he said we should be vocal on such issues for it is the duty of every citizen to take care of and protect children who are in need of help.
The DC also suggested to those managing CHILDLINE, to give efforts to propagate and make people aware of the CHILDLINE facility not only in the town but in all the sub-divisions and villages so that people would make the best use of the facility.
Short speeches were delivered by chairman, Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, Khape Koza; district child protection officer, I. Moasenla and SDPO Mokokchung. An introduction to CHILDLINE 1098 was given by nodal director CHILDLINE Nagaland & Governing Board Member CHILDLINE India Foundation, Subonenba Longkumer. A welcome speech was delivered by managing director C&SS/ collaborate director CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung, Imchawati Kichu, a special song was presented by Angangla Jamir. A vote of thanks was proposed by member BOG, C&SS, M. Amongla Longkumer, invocation was pronounced by youth evangelist MTBA, Monglier Tzudir, benediction was said by pastor Chang Baptist Church Mokokchung, Ngaku and the programme was chaired by coordinator CHILDLINE 1098 Mokokchung, Lanutemsu.
