Akuluto Area Union Dimapur (AAUD), in a representation urged upon Commissioner of Police Dimapur to expedite the investigation and book the perpetrators, who were attempting to tarnish and defame innocent citizen. AAUD made the appeal, after one of its member, Mulato Sema’s name “falsely dragged in malicious news report”, under the heading, “open letter to PHED”. In a release, AAUD president, Dr. Heheto Y. Chishi and general secretary, Lhokuto Sema said the incident had caused “mental trauma” and placed an innocent man in an unnecessary controversy for no involvement of his. As such, the union appealed the commissioner police to expedite the investigation and book the perpetrators in order to safeguard innocent citizens from such act of defamation and character assassination. Signatories further requested that the names of the perpetrators be made public to clear the air of suspicion and confusion.
