Dr. Nicky asks students to take up skill development

Minister for environment, forests and climate change Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire has urged students to take up skill development and expand their horizon beyond government jobs.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest during Kros College inauguration of computer centre cum launching college website and celebration of 5thfoundation day at Kevi hall, Wednesday.  
Dr. Nicky while encouraging students to hone their skills said they should also make positive contributions for the betterment of the society.
Dr. Nicky also congratulated Kros College for the achievements since its formation.   
He urged the college to keep track on the progress of the students through the newly launched college website. 
Earlier, the chief guest inaugurated computer centre and college website.  
Also speaking in the programme as the guest of honour, commissioner and secretary higher education and SCERT, FP Solo pointed out that UGC supports centre of excellence in autonomous colleges where the college has to choose an area it could excel. 
He said that in this regard, Kros College could explore Information and communications technology (ICT) and excel in that area. 
Encouraging developing the art of writing, FP Solo urged students and faculties to develop art of writing and reach higher standard with patience, practise and hard work. 
He suggested picking up a theme for the annual college magazine with well researched articles. FP Solo also released the college first magazine “Minerva”.
Delivering principal’s report, Principal KROS college, Imsuinla Imti highlighted some activities for “internal and external” development of students, also some first of its kind in the state such as- first inter collegiate gospel beat contest, women development cell affiliated to state research centre for women,  first tobacco free campus and disability committee.
The gathering was enthralled through special number by BA 1st semester, duet by Khongalou Rosu and Lipongla and violin extravaganza by Kusazo Rhakho.
Welcome address was delivered by president KROS education society, Kevisiezolie Suohu while vote of thanks by assistant professor department of economics, David Khutso. Alumni 2013 batch, Sonia Chung delivered a short speech and the programme was chaired by assistant professor department of sociology, Watichila.
