A formal farewell programme was held Thursday at the District Congress Committee (DCC) Office, for its out-going DCC president S Tia Lkr while Imkongyanger was welcomed as the new president.
In his address Imkongyanger stated that taking charge as the president was a “childhood dream come true” and thanked the INC party workers for offering him the opportunity saying “serving the Indian National Congress is a passion”.
Imkongyanger described his predecessor as a man of his word, who “walk the talk”, a selfless, determined, dedicated and an honest. He requested the outgoing president to ever remain a vigilant backbone of the party.
The new DCC president further called on the party workers to support him, through thick and thin, to filter and harness the strength of the Party.
The outgoing President, DCC Mokokchung, S Tia Lkr said that he has fought his fight “gentlemanly” and was optimistic that the young blood would do the same, in a higher level.
Earlier, a short speech was said by DCC Vice President Watimongba and the invocation was said by G.S. DCC Chubala. The function was chaired by DCC, vice-president, Noktsung.
