NPF Mkg celebrates Moatsu

NPF Mokokchung Division, along with all its frontal and unit representatives of Mokokchung District, celebrated ‘Moatsu Festival’, a priemer festival of the Ao Nagas, with ex-council general secretary, Mokokchung village, Bendangwati, as the guest speaker, on the topic, ‘Significance of Moatsu’. 
While describing the of Moatsu festival, Bendangwati, stated that the significance of the festival lay in the people imploring the rats to spare their rice (which remains the main diet of the people, apart from the rest of the sown vegetables) and at the same time seeking God’s blessings for the seeds that had been sown and plants planted. Bendandangwati also said that it was also a time for acknowledging future mates, by way of gifting Smoking Pipes (to females) and sheath belts (to males), and that the adoration of a female or a male within the local community was rated through the numbers of gifts received. Bendangwati ended his speech by declaring the the main objective of the Moatsu festival was to implore the rats to spare the other sown vegetables and to the God, to abundantly grant a rich harvest.
A welcome note was delivered by NPF Mokokchung Division, Moasangaba Jamir and the festival was chaired by general secretary (Admn), Tangit Imsong, while special presentations were made by various units of the party.
