United Sangtam students’ Conference (USSC) has called for a 12-hour ‘complete lockdown’ of Kiphire town on December 3 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in protest against the November 26 incident where a Class 8 student was allegedly shot at by one Atsase Sangtam of NSCN (R) and his accomplice Pitsase. However, district administration, media, security forces, medical, power, PHED and fire and emergency services have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Among various demands, USSC is likely seek immediate arrest of both the accused, 24×7 quick reaction team (QRT) in the town, installation of complaint booth in the town and compensation to the victim of November 26.
USSC would also appeal to all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) not to enrol Atsase Sangtam, the main accuse of the incident, in their folds.
