Dimapur district court has sentenced Ravi Meeing to 13 years imprisonment for rash driving after the prosecution successfully proved the case, which dates back to December 24, 2014, when the convict driving Toyota Etios Liva ploughed over Christmas carol procession organised by Ao Baptist Fellowship, Signal Basti, killing three persons on spot and injuring 13 others near Sub-Urban Police Station Tinali/Lhomithi Junction.
In a press note, public prosecutor Dimapur, Hutoi Yeptho, stated that the court of the principal district and sessions judge, Dimapur, Neiko Kanuo, convicted the accused Ravi Meeing for rash driving on a public way and causing hurt to victims. In a 30-page judgment, the court recommended for compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to be paid to the family of the three deceased– Zungalemla (70), Purtula (60) and Noklemchiba (73).
During trial, altogether ten prosecution witnesses were examined and the prosecution successfully proved the guilt of the accused Ravi Meeing and sustained conviction, it stated.
