Awareness and adoption campaign “animal on the cloud” was launched by minister for environment, forest and climate change, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire , here on Wednesday at Zoological park, Rangapahar Dimapur.
The awareness and adoption campaign was initiated by Fingerprint (design and events), Castle Group and Sharing Ideas for Better Future in collaboration with Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
Speaking at the launching programme, Dr.Nicky said if “we” are so concerned in conserving Amur Falcon, there was no reason why “we” cannot continue to conserve all the other animals.
He also said that villagers and village-wise areas should also get along and refrain from shooting animals when they come to the “clearance zone”.
Dr. Nicky was of the view that the zoo would be in safe hands only if sincere people took care of it. “We want people who have care and attachment with animals for better interest of the zoo”, he added.
The minister reminded that the department would be answerable, should there be any lapses as the zoo has been made public. He said that the department had heard some snide talks about the department making money through the campaign. However he clarified that since Nagas are very negative in their comments the department promise to make every paisa for the campaign received accountable.
Dr. Nicky also hoped that forest department would approach all the elected MLAs for adoption of an animal.
In a brief speech, principal secretary, forest and environment N.N. Zhasa encouraged the gathering for conserving, whether it is flora or fauna, “our” common heritage.
The launching programme was chaired by Vincent Belho from Castle Group, God’s blessing was invoked by Principal OTS, Dr. Wati Aier, welcome speech was delivered by CWLW, S.P. Tripathi, brief on Nagaland Zoological Park (NZP) was shared by OC, NZP, Obed Bohavi Swu.
Hongba Phom from Fingerprint gave a brief about the campaign, where campaign ambassador, Tali Angh presented a song. Dr.Nicky Kire gave away certificates to first adopters and launched the campaign and website of “Animal on the cloud”.
