As paper war continues between NPF and Congress over chief minister T. R. Zeliang education qualification, the District Congress Committee (DCC) Peren has now accused NPF of confusing the people through their November 11 and 15 press statements published in local dailies.
In a press release, DCC Peren president Heluibe Ihielung said it firmly support the decision and stand of NPCC’s demand to governor of Nagaland for up an Impartial Enquiry Committee and to make the report public on the issue of filing an affidavit containing false particulars regarding educational qualification with his nomination papers by T. R. Zeliang when contesting election.
While opposing and condemning the press statements of NPF issued in this regard, DCC Peren said the same “hold no water and valid reasons except defiant baseless rhetoric to confuse the people on the contents of the Representation of the People Act”.
Accounting the deliberate misinterpretation of NPF, DCC Peren said it was felt “urgent” that all political parties be conversant and courageous enough to truthfully uphold the law of the land vis-a-vis the Representation of the People Act and its content.
In this context, it said T. R. Zeliang by virtue of holding the highest office in the state as chief minister can be exemplary by not shying away from the scene and the issue on question, but extend co-operation to the enquiry nor the NPF should also be terrified about the setting up of an Impartial Enquiry Committee.
DCC Peren said NPF should “absolutely desist from misleading the people of the state trying to cover-up what actually was needed to be exposed in the interest of general public of a democratic state that we are all proud of”. DCC Peren then stated that it resolves to stand by the law of the land and support any initiative on such stand.
