
Dimapur Traffic Police (DTP) concluded observing the week-long 29th National Road Safety Week by distributing car key chains, pamphlets and sweets to commuters at Plaza point, Holy Cross junction here on Monday. The week-long event with the theme “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha” began on April 23.
Speaking to media persons, assistant commissioner of police (ACP), traffic, Zone-I Seyiesezo Peseyie said around 3,500 car key chains, 3,000 pamphlets and 5,000 sweets were distributed by DTP in the city in collaboration with Maruti Progressive Motors and Mahindra Apex Motors Enterprise as part of the road safety week with an aim to educate the people on road safety.
He said, unlike previous years when only pamphlets and sweets were distributed, this year DTP included car key chains to serve as a constant reminder to drivers on observing road safety.
Tag lines in the car key chains read “Do not drink and drive”, “Do not use mobile phones”, “Wear helmet”, “Wear seatbelt”, “Keep calm and drive”, “Lane driving”, “Proper parking”, “Respect all road users”, “Safe driving”, “Obey traffic rules”, etc.
Earlier, as part of observance of the 29th National Road Safety Week 2018, DTP conducted various activities in and around the city like putting up flagship banners, bringing out traffic awareness rally with NCC cadets (air wing) from various educational institutions and holding a seminar on road safety in Medziphema.
