Tobu Area Students’ Union (TASU) has served an ultimatum on the department of youth resource and sports (YR&S) over the abandoned youth hall construction at Tobu town.
In an ultimatum addressed to YR&S director, TASU president, Sangti Konyak, and general secretary, Davidson Ngushu, pointed out that the union had given 10-day deadline to the contractor and implementing agency to provide the detailed information about the fund utilization and 20-day for restarting the construction work.
However, they said the union had not received information from either the contractor or implementing agency about the delay in youth hall construction.
The signatories said the union had therefore decided to wait only till May 8, 2018 after which the union would be compelled to impose indefinite closures of all the governmental offices under Tobu sub-division.
The union had stated that the project work sanctioned under Special Plan Assistance (SPA) 2009-11 was supposed to be completed within 24 months. However, it remained abandoned for the past seven years despite repeated reminders from different organizations. TASU had also stated that a total amount of Rs.83 lakh had been withdrawn as per the RTI reply.
