As part of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), nation-wide sanitation campaign was launched in Phek town on October 3.
The programme was organized by PHED Phek division in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of drinking water & Sanitation, GoI.
“We need to keep our surroundings clean. We need to keep our environment clean. We need everything neat and clean,” said Phek deputy commissioner Murohu Chotso while launching the campaign at SIRD Hall.
Terming the public place as “sacred” place, he called upon the people to protect and keep it neat and clean and at the same time asked them to avoid random disposal of waste.
Chotso was optimistic that the SBM would go a long way in building a hygienic society, and also help increase the life span of the people from 70-80 to 80-90 and improving the living standard of the rural people.
PHED, Phek EE, Er T. Imtiakum mentioned that community could play an active role in taking responsibility of their village sanitation. He opined that “time has come to move forward, to garner the benefits of other aspects of environmental cleanliness, and use the present momentum to achieve important milestone” in a “sanitation drive” for holistic clean environment in every village.
SBM brand ambassador Nagaland, Vizopal Chaya, Phek district in-charge, also spoke in the programme.
Royal Foundation School, Phek town performed skit on sanitation. The function was chaired by SDO PHED Chozuba, Er. Neitelo Koza while vote of thanks was proposed by IEC consultant PHED Phek Asonuo.
The programme also marked screening of video spots, administration of pledge and sanitation rally.
