Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) on Saturday announced that it would stage agitation starting October 5 at the office of district education officer (DEO) Dimapur and office of sub-divisional education officer (SDEO) Niuland against education department’s failure to comply with its demand to cancel appointment of 13 non-Sumi primary teachers under WSSU jurisdiction.
WSSU accused Education department of flouting the guidelines in appointing 13 primary teachers (PTs) under its jurisdiction.
Addressing a press conference, WSSU president Atokiho Sumi warned that if the responsible department failed to respond positively, the agitation would be intensified to extent of picketing DEO Dimapur office and SDEO Niuland office.
Maintaining that it had no personal grudge against any of the 13 candidates, WSSU said it was only demanding the cancellation of the appointments.
