NNC Lotha RC reacts to Rijiju

Lotha Regional Council, NNC has reacted to union minister of state for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju’s ‘North East militants greatest destabilizers’ statement.
In a press release, NNC Lotha regional council president, Yilow Lotha stated that Nagas were never militant, insurgent, rebel or underground.
Lotha said such “dirty words in politics” was never acceptable, as explained in the past by the NNC.
He also reminded that the Naga National Council  had officially declared “Naga Independence one day before India and acknowledged by the United Nations in 1947.”
It also reminded the May 16, 1951 plebiscite (referendum) held by NNC with the invitation and full knowledge of Government of India and the boycott of 1952 & 1957 general elections.
He said NNC had also formed the Federal Government of Nagaland with a fully framed Constitution in the name of God Almighty. “And till date NNC stood for the rights of Naga people for recognition of our Sovereign democratic right of freedom with the best political policy of Non-Violence by one and all,” he said.
Therefore, Lotha said there was no question of violence nor militancy in regards to the Naga political problem of almost seven decades, well known to the whole world and the Government of India in particular.
The Lotha regional council appealed to Rijiju “not to use such words again for best understanding for the future good of all concerned and to help his own people of the North East for political freedom in the Region for world peace”.
