Consultative meeting with regard to Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll was held at DC’s Conference Hall Tuensang, on October 1.
The meeting was attended by church leader, political parties and NGOs.
According to DIPR, ADC & ERO Tuensang, Nchumbemo Odyuo while delivering welcome address stressed on the enrolment of new voters who have attained the age of 18; transfer cases, multiple entries, bogus to be identified and rectified; to sensitize free and fair election; checking and identifying the change of constituencies.
DEO and DC, Alemjongshi said to create public awareness on election activities, agencies like Churches, political parties and NGO have been nominated to introduce government’s plans and programmes to be introduced to the grassroots level.
Church can play an important role in educating the public, he said adding that main concern of the government was to touch every public to facilitate developments. He also dwelt on the importance of adhaar in the election process.
Assistant Election Officer Tuensang chaired the programme where he also insisted the political parties to appoint blooth level agencies as soon as possible as per the directive of the government.
MON: One-day training for BLOs of 43 A/C Tapi and 56 A/C Mon on Summary Revision of Electoral Roll was held on September 28 at Council hall, Mon.
Assistant Election Officer Mon briefed on the purpose of the training and on the technical aspects of filling up various forms for different purposes. He advised the BLOs that E/Roll should be kept error free and authentic as desired by the ECI.
SDO (Civil) Mon, Ilika Zhimomi and EAC, Mon, Thejavizo Nakhro informed the BLOs to complete the exercise within the stipulated time.
Kohima: Consultative meeting with the political parties, media, civil societies/NGOs, church organization and Government officials for Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls was also held at Kohima at DC’s conference hall, Kohima, on October 1.
In the meeting, AEO, Kohima, R. Mhathung Ngullie apprised on voters awareness on electoral roll registration and appealed to all genuine and eligible citizen/person, who are ordinarily residing in Kohima district, to make best use of the current special summary revision roll which commence from October 1. He also said that this revision emphasis on youth, on-resident Indians (NRIs), migrant workers, factory workers, identification of electors with disabilities (PwDs). Focus would be made to detect and delete multiple and ineligible entries from the rolls, he said.
