Blood donors saviour of mankind: Dr. Shurhozelie

DAN chairman and co- convenor political affairs committee, Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu said despite rapid and remarkable advancement in medical science, there was no factory that could manufacture blood except through human body which could be circulated. 
Describing voluntary blood donors are saviours of mankind, he said it was the greatest gift one can give for the mankind.
Dr. Shurhozelie  was addressing national voluntary blood donation day at Nagaland University, Merima Campus, Kohima held on the theme help save a life, give the gift of blood. 
While encouraging the spread of awareness on blood donation, Dr. Shurhozelie said five districts in Nagaland was were yet to form voluntary blood donors association. 
He said formation of association would play a key role in saving one’s life.
Highlighting the significance of the day, principal director H&FW Dr. N. L Nandira Chankija said nothing in life was fruitful unless a person acts or do something and encouraged to donate blood. 
She also informed that donating blood gives satisfaction in one’s life as one donates blood knowing that he or she was saving someone’s life.
She also urged urging the gatherings to spread the message to donate blood. Senior doctor NHK Dr. Kehousetuo Kuotso in his message on the importance of blood donation said there was no alternative for blood except by donating. Informing that blood banks do not have enough blood, he said doctors and nurses also donate blood in the course of surgery as timely blood donations save life. 
On the occasion, 35 volunteers donated blood.
The programme was organized by voluntary blood donors association Kohima in collaboration with NU, Merima and NHK, sponsored by De Oriental Grand.
