School of Engineering and Technology and Management Nagaland University (NU), Dimapur held an inaugural function of Community College for a six-month course titled “certificate course in electric and electronic appliance repairing” sponsored by UGC on September 30.
A press note by assistant registrar Nagaland University SET and SMS, Kaheshe Sumi stated that vice chancellor of NU Professor B. K. Konwar in his keynote address said “it was a good start up for the university to open a community college to help the society and also encouraged to take up such skill-based training”.
It also stated that deputy director in charge branch MSME development institute Dimapur Tali Longchar in his speech said, “students from Nagaland hesitate to work outside the state leading to unemployment” but he encouraged them to take up skill based training to be self sufficient and not a liability on the society.
The function started with the welcome speech from dean SET and SMS Professor D. P. Chaturvedi and vote of thanks was offered by Community College nodal officer, Dr. Manoj Prabhakar.
