Parliamentary secretary for horticulture, GB &DB, N. Kejong Chang inaugurated Nagaland first pack-house for fruits and vegetables, Tuesday at State Horticulture Nursery, Dimapur.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Kejong encouraged the department officials and staff to work in unity so as to uplift the department.
He also asked them to be sincere and faithful while discharging their duties and to focus on developing the department for the benefit of the public.
On Concept Management Group (CMG), Kejong challenged the young entrepreneurs to work competitively and set examples for others to emulate.
Highlighting the gathering about the pack-house, at State Horticulture Nursery director Watienla Jamir informed that the pack-house has been constructed at Rs. One crore and 43 lakh (appx) with a capacity of 4 metric tonnes covering 340 square meter, a cold room of 40 square metre and multi-working machines along with two refrigerated vans.
Asserting that the pack-house will be beneficial for the State farmers, Jamir informed that the same would be run by CMG-a group comprising of expert professionals representing different sectors like retail, cooperate management, restaurant and cafes, finance, contract, sports management, marketing and branding, social enterprise, contract management and property management.
Short speech on CMG was also delivered by group member Medo Putsure, where he mentioned that CMG epitomizes what young Naga youth is all about.
He said CMG consists of a group of young entrepreneurs who have come together to make a change towards creating social livelihoods based on the challenges faced in the region.
Putsure said with the lease of pack-house and refrigerated truck, CMG intends not only to create new markets and linkages but also to understand the grass root levels.
Terming north east region as organic hub of the country, he said that CMG plans to work with farmers so as to achieve sustainable development.
Earlier the programme was chaired by secretary of horticulture C.M. Tsanglao and vote of thanks was delivered by SHN, deputy director deputy director Dr. Moa walling. Districts officers and senior officers attended the programme.
