New school building for GMS Shaki

Under the flagship programme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) 2012-13, a new building for government middle school (GMS) at Shaki was undertaken and completed successfully through the supervision of village education committee (now school management committee). The new building was inaugurated on September 26 by superintendent of police Wokha, T. Chumrenthung as chief guest.
In a press release, project assistant SSA (DMA) Ekyimo Odyuo said chief guest had acknowledged the commendable service taken up by the department through SSA and the education committee. He appealed to the citizens of Shaki to send their children to the newly up-graded GMS Shaki, while also asking them to have better understanding amongst themselves, in order to further up-grade the GMS to GHS in future. He also suggested that church leaders ought to visit the school from time to time to exhort and share the word of God and pray for the students. He called upon the church leaders, village council and school authority to work cohesively for the improvement of the school in particular.
At the programme, short speeches were delivered by ADC, SSA (DMA) Wokha P. Zubenthung Humtsoe and chairman village council Shaki M. Wopenthung Tsopoe.  The new building was dedicated by pastor Shaki Baptist Church Libenthung Khuvung. The programme was chaired by senior teacher Tssuremo Tsopoe, invocation prayer by women leader SBC Lirenbeni Tsanglao and vote of thanks pronounced by N. Mhabemo Tungoe and benediction prayer offered by chairman VEC Khyolamo Tsopoe.
