Population Stabilization Fortnight under the theme ‘the key to happy family was conducted from July 11 to 24 at Phek.
At the programme, family planning service packages such as male and female sterilization, distribution of condoms, oral contraceptive pills, emergency pills, insertion of Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD) and counselling on family planning were given to the participants who opted for any family planning method.
Information Education Communication (IEC) activities on family planning was also conducted through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) targeting lactating mother, pregnant women and eligible couples by the health workers.
Leaflets and pamphlets on family planning printed in local dialects were distributed to all the participants.
Meanwhile, CMO Phek Dr. K.Vikato Kinimi has expressed appreciation to all the doctors, medical staffs and block IEC personnel who had rendered service during the population stabilization fortnight. Altogether 23 female sterilization (tubectomy), one male sterilization (vasectomy), 39 IUCD inserted, 580 condoms were distributed and 178 OCP were given out during the programme.
PEREN: Population stabilization fortnight activity was launched on July 13 and was successfully carried out till July 24, at Peren district. The camp was held at District Hospital Peren, CHC Jalukie, Athibung PHC, Tening PHC, Azailong PHC, Ntuma PHC, Mbaulwa PHC, Dungki PHC, Heningkunglwa PHC, Poilwa PHC, Bongkolong SC, Mhainamtsi SC, Samzuiram sc and Gaili SC.
At the fortnight programme, IEC personnel and ASHA coordinators conducted focus group discussion in 36 villages on the topic “family planning”. IEC materials, leaflets, posters and DVD’s on documentaries and PSA’s were distributed to all health units.
Monitoring and supervision was also carried out by chief medical officer (CMO) Dr. Ngangshimeren, deputy CMO Dr. Tiala, and UIP/RCH deputy program officer (DPO) Dr. Khrielasanuo to all health units. Counselling was carried out by the medical officers and nurses in their respective health units.
ASHAs conducted inter personnel communication in all the villages for intensive awareness at the grass root level. Condoms, oral pills and emergency pills were distributed.
Altogether 11 laparoscopic ligation (permanent method) and 41 IUCD (temporary method) family planning services were performed.
