More observe 84th martyr’s day of Haipou Jadonang

Rongmei Council Nagaland observed 84th martyr’s day of late Haipou Jadonang (a freedom fighter) at Rongmei Customary Court, Chungaizaeng Colony, Burma Camp Dimapur with chairman Rongmei Naga Peoples’ Organization (RNPO) North East, G.Namgai as chief guest.
In his speech Namgai accentuated the history of late Haipou Jadonang during “Naga Raj Movement” and encouraged the gathering to honor the legendary leader for his sacrifices made for the Naga Raj. 
To pay homage to the legendary leader late Haipou Jadonang one minute silent prayer was mark by the leaders and public. 
At the programme, Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak (AMN) president Meishonglung Pamei highlighted about the history of late Haipou Jadonang and shared about his struggle which was also orally narrated by his elders. 
A song of dedication called “hero” was presented by Lulu Gangmei on behalf of Rongmei Students’ Union Patkai Christian College and folksong based on the story of Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu was presented by Gaingamliu.
To give an ample of opportunities to the upcoming talented musician, a musical evening was organized by United Rongmei “friends of music”, on the theme “Unity through Music” at Chungaizaeng colony ground. Various Rongmei musicians performed comprising Naga Orpheus Hunt finalist 2014 Kathuang Pamei, Gospel Voice Hunt finalist 2015 Kariu Gangmei, Eco Pyros Band from Jalukie, 26/4 Makaam Band and Patkai band. The Martyr’s Day observation was attended by various Rongmei organizations and leaders from Nagaland.

Meanwhile, Jachin Phuam also observed 84th Jadonang Marty’s day on August 29 at Jachin complex Mhainamtsi under the Theme “Right to fight to freedom”. 
In a press statement Jachin Phuam president Phillip said the master of the program was K.G Philip and it was graced by John Tingsangai Panmei a social worker as resource speaker. In his speech, John Tingsangai Panmei informed that Haipou Jadonang was the lone freedom fighter who fought against the mighty British ruler and was hanged. He then added that Jadonang’s great sacrificial and right decision took at the time must be honoured and paid homage. 
He also remembered many leaders and patriotic who sacrificed their lives and laid down for the cause of Naga nation that eventually one day the younger generation would enjoy and harvest the fruit which they have sown. 
John Tingsangai Panmeilaso lamented that though there are many great leaders who had sacrificed for the cause of Naga nation but there are less or no observations or commemoration of their birth/death anniversary. He said tribute/homage should be paid to them and added that state holiday or national holiday must be declared in honour those leaders who has sacrificed for the Naga nation.
