First ever fresher’s day of the Sangtams Students under Kiphire district was held Saturday at ZP College Auditorium Kiphire with EAC Kiphire Longtiba Sangtam as the special guest.
Longtiba in his address asked the students to acquire additional knowledge apart from their academic education and encouraged them to acquire the habit of reading.
While citing some of the disadvantage of drugs and alcohol, he said that there are no advantages of taking such intoxicants and asked the students to distance themselves from such things.
USLP general secretary R. Tsitongse Sangtam and USSC executive secretary Justin Khatomong T also spoke in the programme.
Chairperson of the fresher’s day programme was P. Achumse Sangtam while Sejongmong Sangtam said vote of thanks.
Altogether 144 Kiphire district Sangtam Fresher from Class 11 and first year degree students attended the programme. Special prayer programme was initiated for students by USBLA Kiphire secretary Rev. T.Tsangkhuchu Sangtam.
Speech on behalf of freshers’ was delivered by Tsasela Sangtam from GHSS Kiphire while welcome address was said by L.Tsalembi Isaac Sangtam.
In the second session, a penal discussion was held with assistant professor ZPC S.J.Levi Keor, MO Kiphire Dr. Holiba Anar and former advisor ENSF T. Kirithong Sangtam as the resource persons.
The topic on “education scenario,” “health and students” and “self reliance” were discussed at the second session.
The fresher’s day was organized by Joint Area Students Union comprising of Seyochung Area Students’ Union, Singti Area Students Union, Longmatra Area Students Union, Amahator Area Students Union and Kiphire Area Students Union under the aegis of United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC)
