Tetso College organizes national seminar

Two day national seminar on “Human Rights in North East India: issues and challenges” was organized by the department of Political Science, Tetso College in collaboration with a local daily from July 24 – 25. 
The seminar was inaugurated by Testo College principal Dr P. S Lorin and Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) secretary general Neingulo Krome. 
Speaking on the topic “the future direction of human rights in the current political scenario” Neingulo highlighted that reason for the rise of the human rights movement in Nagaland was to address the atrocities that had occurred during the Indo-Naga war. 
Various scholars and academicians presented the paper at the seminar including “Human rights in North-East India, issues, challenges and strategies with special reference to Nagaland” by assistant professor Dr. Toli Achumi, Yingli Government College, Longleng, HoD department of Political Science, Tetso College Shitio Shitiri on “Human Rights: A glance at Violation of Rights in Nagaland”, research scholar (Tezpur Central University) and assistant professor Sazolie College ThepfusalieThenuo on ‘The questions on women’s rights to landed property and customary law in Nagaland: A Study of Angami Community and vice principal, Immanuel College Charles Mhonthung Ezung on “The Naga customary laws and human rights” etc.
The session culminated with the paper presentation on “A critical study on gender inequality in North-Eastern states” by assistant professor Pranabananda Women’s College, Anil Kumar Das. The seminar was sponsor by University Grant Commission (UGC).
