
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training programme for the government school teachers was held Saturday at Hotel Vivor organized by Eastern Computer Agencies (ECA) with Nagaland SCERT director Vipralhou Kesiezie as the chief guest.
In his address Kesiezie said SCERT recently has re-strategized its policy in the implementation of ICT at school and has introduced some new software and programme in ICT schools.
He said this year SCERT has introduced and installed digital courseware in science and mathematics subjects developed by career Clinique in 50 government secondary schools for students of classes of 7 to 9. Kesiezie informed that the text book has been designed and developed by ECA Kohima and edited by SCERT.
SCERT director said the software has been found as “student friendly” and that now students can now learn science and mathematics at their own place.
He said the ICT schools will now use the book in order to help the teachers and the students to learn the most important basics of computer education.
In the past it totally student were entirely depended on textbooks, teachers and blackboards said Kesiezie however expressed happiness that now technology has completely revolutionized the method of learning.
He further said the world was now moving towards digitalized e-learning, virtual classroom and teachers, digitalized textbooks and depending lesser on textbooks and other printed materials which were considered as the most important materials in the past.
Kesiezie said besides various benefits and advantages of using technology it could also create irreparable damage to the individual as well as the society like cyber crimes, hacking information, addiction to internet leading to commit crimes and suicides etc.
He urged the gathering to take serious note of it said there was a need for proper monitoring and control on the usage of technology.
Project manager ICT training ECA Visazo Teroh in his introduction speech said ECA has been rendering service to the Nagaland for the last 12 years with 34 part time and full time workers and with 9 managing board.
Teroh said ECA aim to provide latest and quality product to the state and informed that ECA would be giving computer training to 16 government schools in the state for the classes 8-10 from July 16 to September 16 this year.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Neizulo Therie manager ECA Nagaland Kohima, invocation was said by KBPF president Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, special song was presented by Atone Swuro music convenor CBC (MH) Kohima, piano recital by Ayiede Koza pianist CBC (MH) Kohima and benediction by Victor Pucho student counselor Baptist College Kohima. The ICT training textbook was released by the chief guest.
In the second session, assistant professor State College of Teacher Education Kohima Runi Nakro and IT advisor ECA Er. Khrieketoulie Rupreo was the resource persons for the orientation programme for the computers teachers ECA on the topic “teaching skills” and “technical skills” respectively.
It may be mentioned that ECA established in 2004 is a leading and progressive IT firm based in Kohima with management and technical team which includes expert in computers and electronics and literary consultant.
The firm had been empanelled by the government of Nagaland since 2005 and had been undertaking numerous projects with government and private agencies in information and communication technology and others related activities.
