Mock-drill exercise conducted across Nagaland

Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) was conducted across the state by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) in association with DDMAs and concerned governmental departments, civil societies and the communities on August 30.
WOKHA: Wokha District Disaster Management Authority (WDDMA) also conducted mock drills with various case scenarios at 6 locations across Wokha town. The locations included both commercial and residential areas as well as schools – Etsutchukha Colony, 2 sites at Police Point, Power House area, DBHSS Wokha and GHSS Wokha. The various agencies including from the SDRF, fire and emergency services, police personnel, CFRs and concerned departments along with the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) put in place for the purpose acted like clockwork and successfully carried out the various tasks assigned for the drill. During the mock exercise, 43 victims including 15 seriously injured and 28 minor injury victims were rescued and evacuated, including from highrise building. The EOC was put in place at DC Wokha conference hall while Wokha local ground was the staging area.

MOKOKCHUNG: In Mokokchung, the SDRF carried out a mega mock drill rescue exercise operation, in tune with an 8.4 magnitude earthquake at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex as the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC).The 4 major centres of exercise were conducted at Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School (MGHSS) for evacuation exercise, Mokokchung Municipal Complex for leaning ladder rescue, collapse structure rescue & rope rescue technique, under construction New Deputy Commissioner Complex for high rise fire rescue and Guudwara forfire rescue in residential area. At the end of the exercises, the key observer, Joint Director, Civil Defence & Home Guards and Joint Commander, Government of Meghalaya, MK Sangma shared the operation review with the key responsible first responders to disasters and calamities. The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung & RO Sushil Kumar Patel, IAS lauded all the participants for the successful completion of the exercise and hoped that the same competence would be employed during an actual event. MON: NEPEx mock drill was conducted from August 29 to 90 in Mon Hqs, wherein table top exercise was conducted at DC’s conference hall on August 29, led by DC along with department of police and all the head of the departments. 
On August 30 mock drill was carried out at different allotted locations like GHSS,  Kongjong Higher Secondary School,  District Hospital, Lucy’s Shopping complex, CMO Office, DEO office, AGM(NST) office,  Jahjon & Techahan Ward,  Tanlao & Wagiem ward and Chingai & Tompang ward. The drill was carried out in a well planned manner by organising and alloting various offices and locations into operation section, planning section, logistic section and relief section.  There were 120 volunteers from Wangkhao Govt. College and 40 Community First Responder from Walo, Jahjon, Wagiem and Tanlao ward.(Correspondent)
KIPHIRE: In Kiphire mock drill execise was conducted by SDRF,CFR and DEF personnel combined, fire and emergency service personnel at 4 locations, 2 schools,1 private building and 1 shoping complex. The excise was successfully conducted with participation of school children and general public. The mock concluded with debriefing by deputy commissioner Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro who is also the responsible officer of Incident Response System structure of the district. He also appealed them to be prepared for any future eventualities. (Correspondent)
ZUNHEBOTO: Zunheboto district conducted mock drill across 6 locations i.e Local Ground, GMS Old Town, Cornerstone Hr. Sec. School, DC Hill West, Traffic Point and District Hospital involving all the relevant government and private agencies in Zunheboto.
DIPR reported that office of deputy commissioner and district hospital were designated as EOC, staging area and relief camp. The incident response team comprised of sdrf personnel, community first responder, paramilitary force, state police, fire brigade, medical teams and other government and private agencies initiated the task in pre identifying safe locations. The designated observers for debriefing session were deputy commandant, 5th Assam Rifles, Ngukato Kiho and DSO, Lhokiye.  Incident commander, ADC, Vekhoyi Chakhesang and operation section chief, district commandant, home guard and civil defence, Y. Khenito Chishi also spoke during debriefing session. 
LONGLENG: Mock drill exercise was performed in three location namely at a private resident in Hukphang junction, Bautung Government Higher Secondary School and Christian School at the same timing. DIPR reported that after briefing the rescue and operation team by the incident commander, D. Robin SDO Civil Longleng the teams comprised of the fire service, police, security force and armies rushed to the badly affected locations. The medical team also rushed to the affected areas along with doctors and nurses with first aid facilities. Deputy commissioner who is the responsible officer summoned the district level officer at his conference hall, where respective officers reported their activities. 
TUENSANG: In Tuensang mock drill started on 11 am in the morning and lasted till 2 pm in the afternoon. DIPR reported that mock drill was conducted in four places: DBs court on high rise rescue, district agriculture office on fire incident, bazaar on search, rescue and evacuation and St. John Higher Secondary School for mass evacuation respectively.  All the emergency services were deployed for the mega mock drill purposes. The whole activities included 5 local observers and one central observer H. Lalduatta from Mizoram. Responsible officer and incident commander over view, operation section chief and observer’s remark was held at staging area at Loyem ground Tuensang.
PEREN: NEPEx Peren district conducted a mock drill with Incident Response System (IRS) headed by S. Tainiu, ADC Peren. The staging area was at local ground Peren. DIPR reported that Zarenthung Ezung, DC Peren & Responsible Officer NEPEx Peren, briefed the team and swung into action. 
PHEK: Phek incident response team held a programme on Incident Response System at DC’s conference hall with ADC, Incident Commander (IC) K. Mhathang Tsanglao as the chairperson. According to DIPR report, urban development officer Khate-u and district project associate Vekuzo were the resource persons. The programme was attended by Er. Rajesh  Dutta, consultant ASDMA as an observer. Mock exercises were held at Phek Government College Phek, Higher Secondary School Phek, Bethany-1 colony and Jericho Colony Phek.
JCC: Japfu Christian College (JCC) joined the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise and conducted a mega mock drill in the college premises on August 30.
