USSC, NEEF conduct counselling prog

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) in collaboration with North Eastern Education Foundation (NEEF) conducted counselling programme for students selected for undergoing engineering and technical course at DUDA guest house on June 15.
Altogether 130 students under USSC and NEEF are set to pursue technical, MBBS and BDS in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Chennai.
Meanwhile, reacting to the statement made by AASA president, published in the media, urging Nagaland students not to take admission in any of the Andhra Pradesh &Telangana colleges, a group of students from Hyderabad– pursuing B. Tech third year and second year led by 2013 and 2014 batch have instead advised all the students from the North East “not to take admission” through All Assam Students Association (AASA).
Addressing the media at DUDA guest house, a student from Vidya Vikas Hyderabad, Chembeli lamented that more than ten students of 2013 batch were yet to receive their scholarships money from minority and IOCL scholarships which had been drawn through blank cheque given to an AASA member.
Speaking to Nagaland post, Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) president Shahsha L. Menhahu Phom said that ENSF had verified the colleges in 2013 and AASA had taken the risk to pay those students who did not receive scholarship through an affidavit submitted to ENSF. The motive lies between AASA and the colleges, he said.
He said that the students got scholarship for first year and did their admission but were detained from appearing examination for second year due to non-payment of fees. He also said that the students were humiliated by the college authorities.
He cautioned those students, who had not received the scholarships to open new bank account and hold own chequebook and ATM card.
The students pointed out that AASA’s admission program of the past two years in 2012 and 2013, in collaboration with ENSF for admission program in Nagaland under fee reimbursement quota, around 190 students took admission under different branches.
The students claimed that under pressure, the college authority and ASSA transferred all students to VVIT campus but registered the students name in VVEC and changed the students’ branch by “themselves”, also pressurised the students for fees. Few students cancelled the admission and returned home.
Referring to ASSA president statement, the students stated that after everything now, the ASSA president was now showing his concern by cautioning Naga students not to take admissions. NEEF president Misbahul Hoque stated that NEEF would help the bereaved students by talking to the authority to sit for examination.
The students requested all the students of 2013 and 2014 batch, to share their views regarding the issue in mentioned mail id nestudentsviews@gmail.com.
