PHED introductory meeting with minister

Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) organised an introductory meeting with the minister for PHED Tokheho Yepthomi at the conference hall of the department here Tuesday
Speaking at the programme, Tokheho insisted that sense of belongingness should be instilled to fulfil the purpose of being into the public services. 
Besides, he said efficiency, sincerity and dedication were required for any public servants to deliver best service to the citizens.
Tokheho advised the department officials to maintain proper record of the office so that the department would be in a position to explain in detail when any situation arises.
Asserting that PHE department has the bigger responsibility as it concerns with human life, he urged employees to explore all possible ways to ensure that safe drinking water reached every nook and corner of the state. 
On the funding pattern, the minister said things have changed in the centre, adding that those states that did not have their own resources would go through difficult times including Nagaland unless Prime Minister or the central government have sympathetic consideration for the state.
The minister however assured to take up the matter of “non-releasing fund” with the finance department and the government to ensure that all centrally sponsored schemes were implemented.
PHED chief engineer Er. Kevisekho Kruse spoke on the overview of PHED and its activities. 
Kruse informed that during the State Plan 2014-2015, no funds were released under state plan, state matching share of NRDWP and thereby there was no achievement either.
While highlighting the constraints of the department, Kruse said due to the delay of the state government in releasing the funds released by the centre which was kept in Civil Deposit for long period it immensely affected the works implementation and achievements of targets. He said the funding ministries were also viewing the matter seriously.
WSSO PHED Director Er. K. G. Sumi spoke on the overview of water and sanitation support organization, PHED and its activities. He said Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) the amount sectioned was Rs. 30196.53 lakhs out of which the total expenditure till date was Rs. 6793.47 lakhs and has an available balance of Rs. 23403.06 lakhs. He said the percentage of rural households covered with toilets was 61.09 %.
The director said the total achievement on individual household toilets till January 2015 was 170374 units, 108485 Units yet to be covered. On the water quality monitoring and surveillance, the project amount for 2014-2015 was Rs. 219.11 lakhs out of which Rs. 74.89 lakhs was released.
