Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate (DM), Mon W. Honje Konyak has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC, enforcing the night curfew from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. in the areas along Indo-Myanmar border and Nagaland-Arunachal Pradesh inter State border with immediate effect.
The order prohibits all vehicular movement, person or group in the 1km belt in Nagaland side bordering Myanmar and Arunachal Pradesh.
According to DIPR, the order has been put into force in view of the volatile situation following the cease-fire abrogation by NSCN (K) with the Government of India and the subsequent offensive attack/ambush on the security forces reported at various places.
Meanwhile, security forces have been cautioned to avoid any unwarranted harassment of civilians/general public and to take utmost care while performing duties. DC stated that magistrates, police and others on exigency duties with prior permission from the competent authority would be exempted.
Ban on use and sale of camouflaged dress
In view of the volatile situation in Mon district, DC has banned sale and use of any/all camouflaged, khaki or any colour patterned clothing identical to paramilitary and law enforcing agencies in the district with immediate effect
As security forces would be carrying out extensive operations all over Nagaland, DC said the ban has been put into force “to ensure the safety of the general public and to prevent any case of mistaken identity or untoward incident.”
Further, security forces and armed personnel are also directed to desist from wearing their uniforms either fully or partially while on leave.
