Congress MLAs respond to show cause notice

Nagaland Congress MLAs who were suspended by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and issued show cause notices on May 9, have submitted their replies to AICC Friday at New Delhi.
Disclosing this to Nagaland Post, CLP leader Tokheho Yepthomi said as per AICC’s directive all the eight MLAs submitted their replies. Tokheho said AICC disciplinary committee would now examine their replies and only then a decision would be arrived at.
He said that the MLAs have cited “solution to Naga issue” as the main reason for joining NPF government headed by T.R. Zeliang.
It may be noted that, chief minister T.R. Zeliang had mooted the idea of an all-party government in lieu with the Naga political solution and subsequently revived the Joint Legislators Forum.
Citing this, Tokheho said if Congress MLAs did not join the “movement” then Nagas would think that they (MLAs) were against solution to the decades old Naga problem. Tokheho also informed that the MLAs met three senior Congress leaders. When asked about their next step in the event if the Congress MLAs are disqualified, Tokheho said “there was no reason why the MLAs should be disqualified since they have not resigned from the party.” All the Congress MLAs are camped at New Delhi and are expected to return within two-three days.
