Nagaland State VDB Association (NSVDBA) said it has taken serious note of the loss of developmental funds provided by the Centre under various centrally sponsored schemes due to retention and late releases of the funds by the State Government.
With regard to this, the association has sought the intervention of chief minister T.R. Zeliang for timely release of central funds and to provide the full state matching share.
In a press release, association president Tohoshe Awomi said such delays ultimately proved to be highly counterproductive to the development of Nagaland and rural areas in particular.
He said perennial late or short state share releases towards flagship schemes like MGNREGA, IAY etc by the state government has been attracting proportionate deductions by the ministry of rural development. This, the association said was highly avoidable as it causes huge loss of developmental funds to a resource strapped state like Nagaland. The association stated that it has approached the ministry of rural development for timely release of its funds to the VDBs and without deductions.
While appreciating the state government in its endeavour to uplift the poor rural people of the state, the VDB association said it would also be intervening in finding solutions for smooth releases of all the centrally sponsored flagship programmes under various departments for a prosperous Nagaland.
