‘Rongali Bihu’ celebrated in Dimapur

Various artists from different northeast states partook in the celebration of Assamese Rongali Bihu enthralling the audience with cultural dances and songs Sunday here at Dimapur Namghar auditorium hall.
The programme was organized by Dimapur Namghar Bihu Sanmilan (DNDS) with Global Open University, Nagaland vice chancellor Dr. H. N. Dutta as chief guest.
In his address, Dutta highlighted the need to preserve the culture and identity of the northeast region and maintaining peace and harmony in the region.
He also encouraged the people from the region to respect each other’s culture and traditions so as to unify and progress together.
Highlights of the cultural programme were Bihu flag hosting, “children’s number” by Namghar school, “Bihu Husori” by Namghar Dimapur, “Jeng Bihu” and “Mech Kachari Bihu Dal” by Purana Bazaar,  “Mising Husori Dal” by Borpathar, “Dimasa dance” by Dimapur which was sponsored by NEZCC and “Rangdhali Bihu dal” by Jorhat.  More than 400 people including people from other community attended the celebration.
