Moatsü festival- the premier seed sowing festival of Ao Nagas was celebrated by Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem (DALT), the foremost youth organisation of Ao Naga tribe residing in Dimapur on May 1at Imliyanger Memorial Centre (IMC) hall.
In the celebration programme, Reverend Yanglu Imsong, while conveying the significance of Moatsü said that the real blessings of Moatsü festival lie in upholding and honouring the good values of “our” forefathers.
He also said that people must shed some old traditional beliefs and ethics in order to adjust with the changing times so that the society will evolve along with the present age.
Reverend Yanglu asked the Ao youth to be courageous and stand for truth since they are the backbone of the society upon which the community finds trust and security in every sphere.
Earlier, invocation prayer was offered by associate Pastor (DABA) Reverend I. Lima Jamir followed by a cultural song from Watsu Telongjem, Dimapur.
DALT president K. Longri Imchen gave a short speech and DABA Youth ministry presented a special song. The executives of Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) also presented a cultural song called “Amen Ken” (Sitting hymn) and vote of thanks was offered by Aotemsu Aier. The program winded off with Aoyimkum Baptist Arogo pastor, I. Temsu Aier offering benediction.
In the second session, results for the raffle draw which was organized by DALT in aid of development of the organizations Senden Reju( Common morung) was declared, followed by a community feast. The program was compered by Mozen Aier.
Akhoya village celebrates Moatsü festival
Akhoya village celebrated Moatsü festival was organized by Akhoya Kosasanger Lanur on May 1 at Anungsa under the theme “Sobaliba Saya Moung Sendong Nezung Puba” with BDO, Ato Imsong as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Imsong encouraged the youth to preserve one’s identity, rich culture, tradition and sports which were inherited from the forefathers.
Short speech was delivered by ASM president Rendikaba Longkumer, Akhoya Shisaluyamer Telongjem gave a brief history on Imsukumba and Sungokala while Moatsü story was narrated by K. Mayang Tatar. Cultural songs were presented by G.M School Akhoya, Kiyim Lanutsur and Akhoya Kusasanger Lanur, cultural dance was performed by Akhohangshi cultural club, Sobaliba Saya moung, Mayü toktep were presented by Tzumunok Kong ward, New Medical ward, Longchara ward, Medem Zunga Akhoya and youth department ABC.
The programme was compeered by assistant professors Imtiwati and K.R Nungshinaro. Deacon ABC K. Imsu invoked God’s blessing, welcome speech was delivered by chairman AVC, S. Kilang, vote of thanks was proposed by language officer Takuwati and benediction was pronounced by Reverend Dr. J. Imti.
