RNPO denounces violence

Rongmei Naga People’s Organization (RNPO) along with intellectuals and concerned Rongmei leaders from all quarters and fields of experts had deliberated on the prevailing peace breaking situation in the Naga inhabited areas particularly Khoupum area in Tamenglong district, Manipur, during the Rongmei leaders consultation cum central executive meet on the April 11 at AIDA Hall, Dimapur.
During the meeting, views and ideas on restoring peace and resolving warring issues were deliberated in threadbare. Taking the matters into consideration, the house denounced killing in the name of the Zeliangrong people or Naga people and nation.
It said the Rongmei publics in Tamenglong district of Manipur state have been subjected to constant threats to life and violence being posed by armed groups. It said the most affected and suffering people were none other than Rongmei people.
The house has endorsed RNPO in coordination with RNCM to work out necessary diplomacy and pragmatic steps to restore peace and normalcy at the earliest. The house also decided to use “Rongmei” as the authentic tribal name of the people concerned in all written purposes and not locally sounded tongue “Ruangmei.”
RNPO has appealed to all Rongmei to comply and abide with the decision taken by the central RNPO at its general assembly held on February 20, 2014, at Agape Conference hall, Tamenglong HQ, and subsequent reaffirmation taken on April 11 at Rongmei leaders’ consultation cum central executive meet.
