Kohima Police recovered the dead body of male from a valley between Meriema village and Nagaland Civil Secretariat Kohima, Monday at around 9:00 a.m.. Kohima Police PRO Atu Zumvu disclosed that the victim was identified as one Meciebo Lcho (38 years), resident of Viswema Village and presently residing at Jail Colony, Kohima.
He said the body was found with hands and legs tied with nylon ropes and suspected that the victim was tortured and killed. The body had a small cut mark near the left eye and injuries on the abdomen, hands, chest and back. Post mortem on the body was conducted at Naga Hospital Kohima and then handed over to relatives.
Police also recovered a mobile phone in the victim’s pocket through which the family were contacted and identification ascertained.
PRO Atu also disclosed that the victim was engaged in some small businesses. A case of murder was registered at Chiephobozou Police Station as the site fell under its jurisdiction.
Meanwhile Rachü Youth Organisation (RYO), Viswema village, Kohima, has condemned the brutal murder of its member Tepumecie (Meciebo) Lcho by unknown miscreant(s) on the night of March 29, 2015.
RYO president Meyiekul Noswe said the dead body of Tepumecie, son of Keneingol Lcho, a native of Viswema village, was recovered by the police on Monday in a brutal condition with his hands tied behind with a noose tied on his legs ending around the neck.
RYO termed the murder as “an act of cowardice” and urged the law enforcing agencies to book and penalise the culprits with befitting punishment.
It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
RYO president Meyiekul Noswe, on behalf of the village also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the personnel of North Police Station Kohima and Meriema village for the timely help and prompt action in recovering the dead body and notifying the incident to the near and dear ones of the victim.
