As part of its developmental activities, to create clean and healthy environment in Dimapur town, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) would be bringing out a “formidable policy” and programme on sanitation very soon.
This was disclosed by DMC administrator, H. Atokhe Aye while addressing the chairmen and secretaries of various colonies at the 3rd general meeting of Dimapur Urban Councils chairmen federation (DUCCF) at Duncan Community hall, Dimapur Saturday.
To achieve this, he called upon the colonies chairmen and secretaries present at the meeting, to spread awareness on sanitation based management in their colonies.
Atokhe also put the onus on the chairmen and secretaries of the colonies in creating a clean and healthier environment.
He said DMC was putting all effort to complete its second phase of developmental activities (sanitation) despite of the shortage in machinery and man power (labour force). However, to complete this second phase, Atokhe called for cooperation from the public and appealed them to pay the Residential Sanitation Tax (RST).
The administrator further said, while DMC was trying to provide clean environment with the limited resources at its disposal, some colonies were not providing space for DMC to construct garbage dumping site. For this, he appealed to the chairmen and secretaries of the 71 colonies under DUCCF to provide space for garbage dumping site in their colonies.
Atokhe also informed that out of the toll tax collection, 60 percent had been spent for developmental activities and the remaining was used for office maintenance. It may be noted that DMC has been entrusted to collect toll tax for three months (January-March) by the state government.
Earlier, secretary DUCCF L.N. Ngullie read out the general report. The session started with a prayer by Pastor James Ngullie followed by welcome address by president DUCCF, L. Supong Ao.
