JCILPS threatens to boycott Assembly

Apprehensive of not introducing the proposed “Manipur Regulation of Visitors and Tenants Bill-2015” in the ongoing session of the Manipur Assembly, the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) Saturday threatened to boycott the last day of the ongoing Assembly session.
Expressing their apprehension on the government decision regarding the introduction of the proposed bill, JCILPS convener Ibotombi Khuman today threatened that if the government fails to introduce the proposed bill by Monday (March 2), they would boycott the last day of the session on March 3.
He said “If a bill to protect the indigenous people and land of Manipur is not passed in the ongoing assembly session by March 2, JCILPS will boycott March 3 session.”
Manipur government has prepared a bill called ‘the Manipur Visitor’s and Tenant’s Law 2015’ for introduction of the same in the ongoing session of the state Assembly. However, the state government has not introduced the bill even as three sittings had passed.
