Hindi organizations form body

An apex body of Hindi organization of North East India was formed on January 31 at Guwahati in the office of Assom Rashtrabhasha Samiti, Rupnagar, under the banner of Purvottar Bharat Hindi Sevi Sanstha Sangh (PBHSSS).
The apex body would address various issues relating to promotion/ propagation and development of Hindi and look after the various difficulties faced by the public as well as private Hindi propagating agencies at different level. It would work for education sector especially teaching/ training/ text books production and organize Sangoshthi/ seminars to update the Hindi education system in the northeastern states of India.
It has also elected team of officer bearers headed by Dr. S Lanchenba Mitai from Manipur as president, Dr.  Khsrida Kumar Saikia from Assam as general secretary, Dr. B Philip from Nagaland and Shyam Kumarkishor Singh from Manipur as vice presidents, Dr. VR Ralte from Mizoram and Dr. Akelabhai from Meghalaya as secretaries, A Priyasakhi Devi as treasurer, Dr. Shusil Chaudhari, Haripad Dev, U Tikenjit Singh, Hezheto Chishi, Dilip Sharma as executive members, and Ramnath Prasad as recorder cum office secretary.
It has also nominated all the MPs of North East India as ex-officio consultant on request and Directors of Central Hindi Directorate, New Delhi.
