Nagaland Science Centre (NSC) Department of Science and Technology observed National Science Day under the theme “Science for National building” at Nagaland Science Centre here Saturday with secretary & ex-officio director, department of science and technology C.M.Tsanglao ISA as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Tsanglao said science has changed the life style of today’s generation and with change of time, human minds have developed.
Asserting that what “we” have and achieved today was because of science and technology, he however pointed out that with these discoveries men were becoming “weird dowers”.
Emphasizing on the advancement of technology, he questioned where these achievements, civilization and what the people have been enjoying today would lead us to.
Tsanglao then said that in this “confusing situation” one cannot control what was happening around us and that one should try to adapt with the changing environment.
Encouraging the students, Tsanglo said that in this fast changing world students should make their presence felt and do “something” as they are the “mouthpiece” of the nation.
He also encouraged them to be aware of things that was going on and encouraged them to contribute by involving themselves in activities that would benefit the school, society, state and nation.
Pointing out that there is no end to learning, he motivated the students to take part in activities that would help them and also asked them to understand the value of teachers and maintain good relation with them.
To mark the occasion, 3D theatre was formally inaugurated by the chief guest and 3D film “Panda Vision” was screened in the presence of chief guest, officials, teachers and students.
During the programme, welcome address and introductory note was delivered by chairperson Dr. Zavei Hiese, power point presentation on “science for nation building” was presented by education assistant of science centre, Sosangtemjen and curator of science centre Richard Rikhio gave a brief note on 3D theatre facility.
Pilgrim School observes ‘National Science Day’
Meanwhile, Pilgrim School, Dimapur observed “National Science Day” Saturday to mark the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist C. V. Raman under the theme “science for nation building”.
Commemorating the day, I. Singh spoke on the objectives and importance of dissemination of scientific knowledge and its application for human welfare and development.
The importance of hand-washing was also discussed and demonstrated by Sana and a group of students. Screening of video documentary, skit and talk show were other highlights of the programme. The event was organised by the school science club.
