PHED dedicates public toilet to the people of Kohima

State Chief Secretary, CJ Ponraj, inaugurated the Pay and Use Toilet constructed by PHED in commemoration of 50 years of Nagaland Statehood near the entrance of Secretariat complex, Kohima.
Inaugurating the public facility, the Chief Secretary said PHE Department is the first to complete the project in compliance to the AHOD decisions for implementing a project each in observance of the 50 years of statehood.
He was happy to observe that the location is ideal with scope for comprehensive in cooperation of other peripheral sustainable development such as sheds for resting. The facility, he said, would serve the public well who come to visit the Secretariat and for staff.
The Chief Secretary remarked that the public welfare concept in the state is weak in taking care of the needs of the public and therefore, highly appreciated and congratulated the PHE department for its sincerity in purpose of action. He also said the most important factor of life in the society primarily depends on sanitation for which a national programme on total sanitation had been launched.
Chief Engineer, Kevisekho Kruse, in his technical report, stated that the programme was taken into account of the 50 years of statehood celebration at the cost of Rs 15 lakhs.
The Pay & Use facility has 4 units each for gents and ladies respectively and 2 side rooms to facilitate attending of the facility for utilizing it as small shops for visitor. The toilets are fed through 4000 litres overhead tanks.
The facility would be manned initially by PHE department and eventually by Secretariat Complex Management Committee. The programme was chaired by the Secretary PHED, Anenla S Longchari.
