As part of its second phase developmental activities, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) is engaging in “full swing” to clear the clogged drainages at the main town area in Dimapur before the onset of monsoon, informed DMC administrator, H Atokhe Aye Thursday at the inauguration of Old Masjid Road/ Hazi Park road that connects Railway road.
The road was repaired and widened with the money collected as toll tax by DMC. It was inaugurated by former chairman Dimapur Town Committee, S Yanger Aier.
It may be noted that state government has allotted toll tax collection to DMC from January –March this year.
Atokhe termed the ongoing work at the drainages in main town area as a “big challenge.” A visibly optimistic administrator hoped to complete before the onset of monsoon and has sought cooperation from traders, NGOs and public to develop Dimapur.
DCCI president Hokivi Chishi, who also spoke on the occasion, has lauded the DMC led by Atokhe for accomplishing developmental works in Dimapur within the span of two months.
Hokivi suggested that DMC should urge the government to allow another 3-month extension for DMC to collect toll tax. Businessmen present on the occasion extended support to Hokivi’s suggestion.
Dimapur Muslim Council president, Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
