AR organises tour for Zunheboto, Meluri

Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Temsu Longkumer, has flagged-off the National Integration tour to Hyderabad at the 5 Assam Rifles Headquarter at a grand ceremony on February 17.
The 20-member team from Zunheboto comprised of Sumi Hoho executives; Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) members; Zunheboto Town Youth Organisation (ZTYO), GBs etc along with other AR personnel with Maj Manoj Iyer as the tour in-charge/coordinator.
Temsu, in his short exhortation, has thanked and appreciated the rank and files of 5 Assam Rifles Zunheboo under the aegis of Sector-7 AR for organising such events for the national integration.
Temsu concluded with a lighter note urging the touring team “To be more Indian” through the 2-weeklong tour in the mainland Indian.
Meanwhile, SH general secretary Vihuto Asumi extended his gratitude to the 5AR on behalf of the Sumi community for the benevolent deeds and concluded with a keynote address. Earlier, the ceremony was chaired by Dr. Capt’ Aravintham, RMO 5 AR.
The chief guest and his administrative officers including ADC Numgsangla and SDO (C) Zunheboto Shanavas and Additional SP Zunheboto were accorded a warm welcome by Maj. Deepak 2-IC 5 AR along with several other 5 AR ranks and files.
The other highlights of the day included pipe band display by 5 AR and special song by AR riflemen duo.
In a related programmer, 46 Assam Rifles has flagged off a 10 day National Integration Tour to Delhi and Agra at Meluri on February 18. The event was attended by students, teachers and principals of all three participating schools alongwith GBs, Head of various NGOs and guardians of participating students. Altogether 20 students and 3 teachers of St Xavier Higher Secondary School, Christian Mission School and Government Higher Secondary School of Meluri sub division in Phek district are part of the tour. The team would visit important places of Delhi and Agra apart from interaction with eminent personalities in Delhi.
