Awareness on handloom weaving held in Dma

Awareness programme on Hathkarga Prashikshan, handloom weaving for tribal artisans of North Eastern states, was held at Alaphra Group Conference Hall here Monday with Managing Director of Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC), Temsuwati as the chief guest and the Managing Director of National Scheduled Tribes Finance Development Corporation (NSTFDC), Takuyapang, as the guest of honour.
Speaking at the awareness programme, Temsuwati said the department of Industries and Commerce has been giving training to entrepreneurs in different districts where more than 40 trainees were trained every year.
While addressing the entrepreneurs and representatives, he recommended them to produce quality products in order to enhance market demand and for sustenance. He also suggested them to bring up identical and unique designs with innovative and resourceful ideas to draw the attention of other markets and to promote the productions.
Temsuwati lamented that present generations were lagging and ignorant about weaving and thereby losing the importance of weaving. He encouraged the participants to uphold and promote the art of ethnic weaving by utilizing the project offered by the government. He advised that planning and management should be well defined with diligent and dedication. He also said marginal profit should be utilized for the project to grow and sustain.
He maintained that reliability on one’s own product is essential to be a successful entrepreneur. Further, he opined that if the entrepreneurs, financer and corporations work together the project would run smooth and successful.
Meanwhile, the guest of honour while sharing the objectives and function of NSTFDC, said NSTFDC is an apex organization set up exclusively for economic development of Schedule Tribes (ST) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MOTA) adding its mission is for the development of ST on sustainable basis. He stated that NSTFDC provides term loan for viable projects costing upto Rs 10 lakhs per unit.
Takuyapang said the objective of NSTFDC is to provide financial assistance for economic development of ST; to identify economic activities to generate self employment and raise the level of income, to upgrade skills and processes by providing both institutional and on job training, to make the existing states/UT ST finance development corporation and other development agencies engaged in economic development, to assist SCAs in project formulation, implementation of NSTFDC assisted schemes and imparting training of their personals and to monitor implementation of NSTFDC assisted scheme in order to assess impact.
The programme was organized by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) and sponsored by IIFCL and NSTFDC and implemented by IIE, State office, Dimapur. The programme was attended by representatives from different units and individual entrepreneur from Dimapur.
