AR rescues two from illegal detention

After busting two ‘illegal detention centres’ of NSCN (IM) at Half Nagarjan in Dimapur and Jalukie Town in 2014, 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles has claimed to have busted third alleged illegal detention centre of NSCN (IM) at Sitkipasha, Dimapur, on February 15.
On receipt of complaints by locals of some illegal activities being carried out from a certain house at Sitikipasha village, Dimapur, troops of 29 Assam Rifles carried out search of the said premises and discovered that it was being run as an illegal detention centre of NSCN (IM). Two persons were found in the custody of NSCN (IM) cadres at the illegal detention centre, Assam Rifles press release said.
The two persons were identified as Tino Konyak (28), resident of Mon, and Imti Sunep Ao (43), resident of Dimapur.  They were found bound in chains and confined in inhuman and despicable conditions.
During the search, three NSCN (IM) cadres were taken into custody. They are identified as Rengamo Patton (35), Shulemong (33), and Zato Zhimo (30). Many incriminating documents related to kidnapping/ extortion alongwith one Maruti Alto car with fake number plate were also recovered.
The press release stated that the incident has once again brought to fore the high handedness and utter disregard to human values by NSCN (IM) and running of a parallel judicial system by the outfit in the garb of moral policing. It said the detainees were chained, physically beaten up and kept under deplorable conditions. It also stated that it has highlighted the impunity with which NSCN (IM) are violating the Ceasefire Ground Rules leading to vitiating the peaceful environment.
It said all apprehended cadres have been handed over to Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur, and a case has been registered. The detainees have also been handed over to the police for releasing them to their relatives.
