NSCN (K), Konyak Region, has condemned two contractors namely Velelei and Potolu for allegedly misusing the amount of Rs 22,0000000 (twenty two crore) on Mon-Tizit road constructed under DUDA.
“These two contractors claimed to have constructed more than 15 numbers of culverts and retaining walls in addition to widening of road, whereas there is no single culvert or retaining wall constructed in entire road covering 441/2Km,” alleged NSCN (K) Konyak Region. It said the two contractors only filled the pot-holes with available mud/earth, probably with the amount of few lakhs.
NSCN (K), Konyak Region, stated that it had not tax a single penny from the two contractors but supported them to execute the work satisfactorily. However, it stated that after filling up of pot-holes, the contractors lifted all their machineries except only 4-5 vehicles left at one place in L/Sheanghah.
In reaction to their alleged cheating and misuse of more than Rs 20 crores without works, NSCN Konyak Region said it had stopped three vehicles ready to leave for Kohima as a sign of dissatisfaction and called the two contractors for negotiation aimed at proper use of funds mean for the said road. It said NSCN Konyak Region said it has no intention to take or seize the vehicles which belonged to the contractors.
It, however, stated that on the advice of the Konyak Union, NSCN/Konyak Region has decided to return the seized vehicles directly to the contractors. It, therefore, directed the contractors to contact K.U and claim the seized vehicles in the presence of NSCN/Konyak Region.
Stating that NSCN/Konyak Region never claimed any kind of taxes but it only wants good work, it has asked all agencies be it central or state to verify the road condition for justification before accusing the organization.
