President of Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho, Khriengu-ü Kesiezie, has made a fervent appeal to Kewhimia and Tenyimia in general to preserve their identity, culture, traditional attires, and good values of forefathers and to stay united. She said good values and norms which the forefathers have implanted should be followed and spread to generations and not only to pass the stories.
Khriengu-ü Kesiezie said this in her address at the 16th general conference of the Kuda Kewhimiapfü Mechü Krotho (KKMK) was held at Town Hall Dimapur here on Saturday as the chief guest.
Speaking at the conference, Kesiezie asserted that respecting one another is the most appreciated piece in human life to which she urged the gathering to respect elders and one another. She also maintained that “we” should learn to share the love with the people around us.
Commenting on the equality of men and women, she opined that women should compete with men in every field. She, however, asserted that women should maintain virtues and not attempt to overrule men.
Stressing on importance of traditional attire, she said one should try to promote the traditional costumes. While conceding that one could design traditional attires to suit trend and comfort with the advancement and creativity at modern times, she advised against vulgarity.
Kesiezie also encouraged the parents to teach their children to work at home, which she said is very important for every section of people to know and learn how to work. Further, she appealed the gathering to set good examples to others, love one another and help each other.
The programme was chaired by Khonuo Keretsü, while the invocation was pronounced by Neibu-ü Kire. Special numbers were presented by Tenyiphe Pfüko and Kuda village Pfüko and Diesekhrienuo Keretsü enthralled the gathering by presenting a special song. Secretary and financial annual report were also presented.
