With “Make strong BJP, Build strong nation; Join BJP and make strong nation,” a five member team of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland state had a marathon primary membership drive workshop here in BJP Zunheboto district HQ office on February 12.
Er. S Jami, vice president Nagaland state BJP, cum state membership drive co-convener, stressed on the party constitution, principles, cadre-based leadership and protocol (s) for the nomination of party leaders.
“BJP Primary target is achieve 100 million membership and also to supersede ‘Chinese Communist Party’ which has the highest (64.8 million) members, currently the World’s largest political party within a decade,” asserted Er. S Jami.
“BJP members are not leaders but workers,” concluded Jami.
State BJP general secretary and spokesman James Vizo, president State Kissan Morcha Lima Longkumer and several others Zunheboto district along with 7 sub-unit presidents/ representatives also addressed the gathering briefly and reported the membership status respectively.
Nagaland state and Zunheboto district membership targets are 50,000 and 5,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, Zunheboto district BJP president in his welcome address ascertained that his unit had already achieved the target and will reportedly exceed up-to 7000 mark which dragged maximum attention and applause in the house.
The programme was chaired by Katoho Yepthomi, convener district ‘Primary Membership Drive,’ and recorded by Akalu Achumi, co-convener district ‘Primary Membership Drive’.
The programme began with Shenili Rochill, president Mahila BJP Zunheboto district, who said the invocation prayers, while V Awomi, vice president Zunheboto district BJP, delivered the keynote address.
It concluded with the vote of thanks and benediction by Vilika Zhimo, vice president district BJP Mahila Zunheboto, and Hovito Assumi, president Akuluto Mandal BJP, respectively.
