KVK conducts FRA training in Kohima

A one-day training cum awareness and sensitization programme on protection of plant varieties and Farmers Right Act (FRA) was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra conference hall, Kohima, on February 11 with ADC Tseminyu, Vikhweno M Meratsu, as the chief guest, and SMS (Horticulture), KVK, Khekali Sema as the resource person.
The program was sponsored by Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Right Authority and Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.
During the inaugural programme, Meratsu expressed her gratitude to the department for organizing the programme for the benefit of the farmers. She encouraged all the participants to take the opportunity and learn something for effective implementation and share for the benefit with others. She also urged the farmers to be professional in whatever they do with dedication and devotion. Further, she said we need to preserve the rich flora and fauna of the state.
Khekali Sema spoke on objective and importance of plant protection and farmer’s right, while Chubatesmu Ozukum shared on plant breeding and genetic.
SASRD and Nagaland University presented the norms, criteria and procedure of filling forms under the protection of plant varieties and Farmer’s Right Act.
The programme was chaired by Dr. V Akashe Zhimomi, Programme Coordinator KVK, Kohima, while the vote of thanks was proposed by K Michael Pienyu and invocation was pronounced by Pastor Khilo Jhung. Altogether 56 participants from 10 villages attended the programme.
