Leaders of the two rival NPF party are currently camped in Delhi for the February 16 deadline at the Election Commission of India over the issue of which of them should be recognised as the real NPF with the ‘Cock’ symbol.
Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang and home minister Y.Patton had gone to Delhi to attend the first NITI Aayog meeting of all chief ministers with the prime minister.
NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and party secretary general K.G. Kenye also joined the duo in Delhi Wednesday to submit their papers and documents before the ECI on February 16.
Highly placed sources told Nagaland Post Wednesday, that Dr. Shürhozelie will be accompanied by home minister Y. Patton to the ECI office though chief minister T.R. Zeliang was not likely to accompany the two.
It was also confirmed that G.Kaito Aye legislature party leader of the NPF (Noke-Kaito) including a party advisor and the two MPs– Neiphiu Rio (LS) and Khekiho Zhimomi (RS) are also in Delhi.
Meanwhile, considerable speculations are doing the rounds on when chief minister T.R.Zeliang would reshuffle his council of ministers. As reported, the current 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, after the February 5 vote of confidence, would be unique in the sense that there would no longer be an opposition party.
In the floor test, the Congress with eight members voted with the DAN-III members to give T.R. Zeliang a landslide 59 ‘Yes’ with only the Speaker not voting, in the 60-member house.
